A downloadable rpg draft

I followed a prompt in discord to make a one-page weird west adaptation of Down We Go. The more I thought about it the more I realized how problematic this setting is. The film genre is spawned from white washed colonialism due to the Hays Code with cross pollination between film cultures from Italy, Japan, and others. We are still struggling to find a way to tell these stories in a just manor. I don't think I'm equipped to write a rpg with a historical setting.

What I latched onto here is the idea of the "frontier." This is the theme that I find resonant beyond the historical context. People of diverse backgrounds and cultures struggling to make their lives at the edge of colonialism, be that expansion or collapse. Animosity can fester from the fear of our differences but hope and love can rise from the common struggles.  Beyond the boundary of imperialism is not a wild world waiting to be tamed but a rich landscape with unique inhabitants.

I don't know if this game should be played.

I don't think one person can tell a diverse story.

I don't think I will ever be done writing it.
